Deafness In Cumbria
Whoever you are, whatever your age, if you are affected in some way by deafness- yourself, a member of your family or a friend – then this is the site for you. What type of equipment could I get to make my life easier?

• Flashing/vibrating alarm clocks
• Room loop systems (hearing aid users) for telephone and conversation
• Portable listening devices
• Textphone (training and installation)
• Flashing/vibrating door and telephone units

 

 

Application for Loan of Equipment

 

To make a referral for yourself or on behalf of a person who is deaf, you can contact the CDA's Technical Equipment Officer on telephone/textphone 01229 894645 (Barrow-in-Furness office) or telephone/textphone 01228 606764 (Carlisle Office).  Details will be required such as:  full name and address; date of birth; contact details; name and address of the GP; details of next-of-kin; reason for the referral; and state of health.

 

Alternatively, you can click on www.cumbria.gov.uk/socialservices/referrals and complete a referral form personally.

 

Once the details have been received, you will be contacted by our Technical Equipment Officer in due course.  There is a waiting list and so we will deal with the referral as quickly as we can.
