How can I tell if a tradesman calling at my door is genuine?

Crime Prevention

Most people who come to your door will be genuine callers, however, you need to make sure so it is important to take precautions before opening the door.

There are a few things you can do to make yourself feel safer – both in the house and when you are out.  The hyperlinks below give very good advice on what you can do:-

www.ageconcern.org.uk (see under ‘Crime Prevention for older people)

As part of the Government’s ‘Lock, Stop, Chain, Check’ campaign, local councils, social services and Age Concern centres have further information they can provide to older people.  They can also help with door viewers, chains and mirrors.
