Who gets 'meals on wheels' and how do I apply?

Meals on Wheels

Meals on Wheels are for people of any age who are unable to cook their meals and have no other way of getting a hot meal.   Meals on Wheels are a hot, two-course meal provided by Cumbria Social Services and delivered to your home by a volunteer.

 

 

 

 

Who gets ‘Meals on Wheels’ and how do I apply?

‘Meals on Wheels’ are a hot two-course meal provided by Cumbria Social Services and delivered to your home by a volunteer. 

There may be other independent organisations and companies who supply Meals on Wheels but for the purposes of this web-site, we will concentrate on Meals on Wheels provided by Cumbria Social Services. 

Who are ‘Meals on Wheels’ for?

Meals on Wheels are for people of any age who are unable to cook their own meal and have no other way of getting a hot meal.

Not everyone will be eligible for Meals on Wheels.  Cumbria Social Services decide on eligibility for Meals on Wheels using an assessment of need carried out by a social worker.

How do I apply for Meals on Wheels?

To apply for Meals on Wheels you must contact your local Cumbria Social Services office and ask for an assessment of need.
